Move your client work from Basecamp to Workspace369.
Basecamp is a calm, opinionated home for project communication: message boards, to-dos, Card Tables, schedules, docs and chat, at one account price with no per-user fees, though each plan now caps users and active projects. Pro is $79 a month for up to 8 active projects and 10 users, Pro Plus is $99 for 12 projects and 15 users, and Pro Unlimited is $329 a month, or $199 a month billed annually. If your projects are client work and the client side (records, proposals, invoices and payments) lives in other tools, Workspace369 puts it next to the projects, with seats included in the plan. Basecamp exports your account as an HTML copy, not as spreadsheets, so plan the move around that. There is no Basecamp importer in Workspace369. What it has is AI Import, which maps the columns of a client spreadsheet and shows what it will cost before it writes anything. Basecamp prices were checked on its own pricing page on October 23, 2026.
14-day free trial. Card required. After the trial: $74/month for Voyager. Renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing.

The honest part first
What moves, what doesn't
There is no one-click import from Basecamp, and Workspace369 does not claim one. Basecamp isn’t a CRM, so your client list usually lives somewhere else; that list moves through AI Import, and projects are set up again.Moves with you
- Your client list, as clients. Export it as CSV or Excel from wherever you keep it today: your accounting tool, your inbox contacts or a spreadsheet. AI Import maps the columns to client records, and you review the mapping first.
- Product, proposal or invoice lists. If your price list or past invoices sit in a spreadsheet or accounting export, AI Import reads files of products, invoices and proposals too.
You re-create these
- Your project files. AI Import doesn't bring these. In Basecamp, open a project’s Docs & Files, open a folder, and use the ••• menu to download it. Upload the files you still need to the matching client or project in Workspace369.
- Projects and to-dos. Basecamp’s export is an HTML copy to browse, not a file AI Import can read. Set up your active projects again; Workspace369 has tasks and subtasks with list, Kanban and calendar views on every plan, and Gantt views and task dependencies from Voyager.
- Message boards and chat history. Keep the HTML export as your record of past discussions. Going forward, client conversations sit in the Workspace369 inbox and the client portal.
- Docs and check-ins. Move the docs you still use into Workspace369 notes, which have folders and attachments on every plan. Basecamp’s automatic check-ins, which ask the team a question on a schedule, have no direct equivalent; Workspace369 notes have recurring reminders instead.
No lock-in either way: the Workspace369 workspace owner can request a full export of the workspace data. In Basecamp, only an account owner can export, from Adminland, then Export data from this account; you’ll get an email when the download is ready. Cancelling is immediate and the data is deleted after 30 days, so let the export finish before you cancel.
The price math
A flat price against included seats
Basecamp charges one price for the account and caps active projects and users by plan. Workspace369 plans include a set number of seats, with extra seats at $10 from Voyager and no cap on active projects from Voyager.Prices checked October 23, 2026 on the vendors’ own pages, on monthly billing (Basecamp Pro Unlimited is $329 a month, or $199 a month billed annually). Basecamp also has a Free plan (1 project, up to 3 users) and Freelancer at $29 (3 active projects, up to 5 users), the same price as Cadet for one person.
| Team size | Basecamp Pro (8 projects, 10 users) | Basecamp Pro Plus (12 projects, 15 users) | Workspace369 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $79 | $99 | $29 (Cadet, 1 seat, up to 5 active projects) |
| 2 people | $79 | $99 | $74 (Voyager, 2 seats) |
| 4 people | $79 | $99 | $94 (Voyager $74 + 2 extra seats at $10) |
| 5 people | $79 | $99 | $104 (Voyager $74 + 3 extra seats at $10) |
| 10 people | $79 | $99 | $149 (Specialist, 10 seats) |
| 20 people | $329 (Pro Unlimited) | $329 (Pro Unlimited) | $249 (Specialist $149 + 10 extra seats at $10) |
Basecamp’s account price wins for mid-size teams: Workspace369 costs less than Pro only up to 2 people (Freelancer, at $29 for 3 active projects and 5 users, matches Cadet for one), and less than Pro Plus up to 4 people ($94 against $99). From 5 people Basecamp costs less until its user caps; past 15 users it needs Pro Unlimited at $329 a month ($199 billed annually). The comparison is not like for like: Basecamp’s pricing page doesn’t list a CRM, proposals, invoices or online payments, which Workspace369 includes, and Basecamp’s time tracking starts on Pro Plus, while Workspace369 has timesheets on every plan. Step by step
The switching checklist
Seven steps, in order.Export your Basecamp account
An account owner opens Adminland, then Export data from this account, picks the projects (or all of them) and clicks Export my data. Basecamp emails you when the HTML copy is ready. Download your project folders from Docs & Files too.
Start the trial and set up your services and prices
The 14-day trial gives you time to move. Add your services, packages and rates first so proposals and invoices take minutes afterwards.
Run AI Import for your clients
Export your client list as CSV or Excel from your accounting tool or spreadsheet and upload it. AI Import maps your columns, you review the mapping, and the AI usage estimate is shown before you start.
Set up your active projects
Recreate the projects you are delivering now, with tasks, subtasks, due dates and estimates, and upload the files you still need.
Add your team and set permissions
Seats are included in the plan, with extra seats at $10 a month from Voyager. You can limit a contractor to the clients assigned to them.
Invite clients to the portal
Send proposals, share files and invoices, and let clients follow along in the client portal instead of a Basecamp project.
Cancel Basecamp once you’ve moved
Keep Basecamp until your export has finished downloading and your team works in Workspace369. Cancelling is immediate, and Basecamp deletes the data after 30 days.
Fair is fair
Stay on Basecamp if…
- You want one flat price for a big team. Basecamp Pro covers up to 10 users for $79 and Pro Plus up to 15 for $99, so from 3 people on Pro, or 5 on Pro Plus, Basecamp costs less than Workspace369. Workspace369 starts at $29, with a 14-day free trial and no free plan.
- Your billing and client records already work elsewhere. If proposals, invoices and payments run smoothly in other tools and you only need a place to talk about the work, Basecamp does that one job well.
- Your team lives in message boards and check-ins. Basecamp’s message boards, Campfire chat, Pings and automatic check-ins are its core. Workspace369 has a team inbox, notes with recurring reminders, and task comments, but nothing that asks the whole team a question on a schedule.
- Your clients already work inside Basecamp projects. Basecamp lets you add clients to projects, and every person counts as a user. Workspace369’s client portal, on every plan, gives clients their files, invoices and messages and lets them sign proposals and contracts.

FAQ
Switching questions, answered straight
Is there a Basecamp importer?
No. Workspace369 has no Basecamp-specific importer and no one-click import. What it has is AI Import: you upload a CSV or XLSX of clients, products, expenses, invoices or proposals, it maps the columns, and you review the result. Basecamp’s export is an HTML copy, so projects and to-dos are set up again.
How do I export my data from Basecamp?
Only an account owner can export. From the Home page, open Adminland, then Export data from this account, tick the projects you want (active and archived are listed) and click Export my data. Basecamp emails you when the download is ready. The export is an HTML copy you can browse offline. Ping conversations have a separate export option.
Is Basecamp cheaper than Workspace369?
For mid-size teams, yes. Basecamp charges one account price with no per-user fees, but caps users and projects by plan: Pro is $79 a month for 8 active projects and 10 users, and Pro Plus $99 for 12 projects and 15 users (checked October 23, 2026). Workspace369 costs less than Pro up to 2 people and less than Pro Plus up to 4; from there Basecamp costs less until its user caps, and past 15 users Pro Unlimited is $329 a month ($199 billed annually). Basecamp’s pricing page doesn’t list a CRM, proposals, invoices or online payments, which Workspace369 includes.
Does Workspace369 have time tracking like Basecamp Pro Plus?
Yes, on every plan. Workspace369 has timers, manual entries and weekly timesheets with approvals, and turns billable hours into invoices. Basecamp lists time tracking from Pro Plus ($99 a month). Time entries don’t come across from Basecamp, so keep its export for your records.
What does AI Import cost?
It counts toward your workspace’s AI usage, and the AI usage estimate is shown before you start the import, so you can decide before anything runs. AI usage is separate from email credits.
Am I locked in to Workspace369?
No. The workspace owner can request a full export of the workspace data and can delete the workspace, with a 24-hour grace period to cancel the deletion.
