What belongs in a scope-change request?

Reference the existing agreement, describe the requested change and distinguish included work from exclusions. Compare the original and proposed dates, explain the fee treatment and name the person who can make the decision. Missing information should remain visible rather than turning into a zero fee or an assumed approval.

A worked agency example

A fictional website includes five pages and two review rounds, due October 30. The client requests one additional service page and another review round, with proposed delivery November 6. Four additional hours at USD 125 plus USD 0 expenses produce a proposed fee of USD 500. Tax treatment is not supplied. The request remains prepared and awaiting a decision.

The fee is a proposed charge, not profit or a payment. If the amount is undecided, choose Amount to be agreed. If the change has no fee impact, choose No fee change explicitly. Earlier delivery dates are allowed because an accelerated change may be intentional.

What happens after preparation?

Review the output and share it through your normal client process. Record the decision and its evidence before treating the change as agreed. This page does not send messages, apply signatures, prepare invoices or establish legal enforceability.

Use the scope-of-work guide for the wider process, or the estimate template to price an entire new engagement. For the later billing record, see consultant invoice examples and Workspace369 Proposals.

Keep this work connected to the client

The free tool creates a standalone record. Workspace369 connects client records, projects, communication and reviewed invoices. Exporting this document does not import it into your workspace or send it to a client.
