Trello Premium: the price, and what it lacks for client work

Trello Premium costs $10 a user a month billed annually, or $12.50 a user on monthly billing, last checked October 18, 2026. It adds Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views, admin and security features, observers and simple data export on top of Standard ($5 billed annually, $6 monthly). For client work it still lacks proposals, invoices, time tracking and a client portal: none of them is on Trello’s pricing page, so you would need a separate tool or Power-Up. If boards are all you need, Premium is fair; if your boards are client projects you also bill for, the alternatives below put that work in one place.

Methodology — We read each tool’s pricing page in a browser on October 18, 2026, with monthly and yearly billing both selected where the page offers them. Workspace369 is our product; we link its pricing page and say where it is not the best fit. On October 23, 2026 we re-checked every competitor price on this page against the vendor’s server-rendered page, using a second browser session where a page builds its prices in the browser.

The short version, by scenario

Trello Premium price: $10 a user a month billed annually ($120 a user a year) or $12.50 on monthly billing. A 5-person team pays $50 a month billed annually or $62.50 monthly. Last checked October 18, 2026.

What Premium adds over Standard ($5 billed annually, $6 monthly): Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views, Workspace Table and Calendar views, unlimited Workspace command runs, admin and security features, Workspace-level templates, collections, observers and simple data export.

What it lacks for client work: Trello’s pricing page lists no proposals, invoices, time tracking or client portal on any plan. If you run client projects on boards and bill for them, Workspace369 keeps task boards, time tracking, proposals, invoices and a client portal on one client record ($29 a month for 1 seat on Cadet, $74 for 2 on Voyager). If you only need better boards, Trello Premium, ClickUp or Asana is cheaper.

Why people leave Trello in 2026

Three facts from our October 18, 2026 check of Trello’s pricing page that matter if you run client work on Trello:

  1. Oct 18, 2026

Premium is $10 billed annually, $12.50 monthly

Trello lists Premium at $10 “per user/month if billed annually ($12.50 billed monthly)” and Standard at $5 ($6 billed monthly). Enterprise is $17.50 a user a month billed annually, $210 a user a year.

  2. Oct 18, 2026

Guest access is limited below Enterprise

Standard adds single-board guests; multi-board guests are listed on Enterprise. If clients need to see more than one board, check how you will share it before you upgrade.

  3. Oct 18, 2026

    No billing on any plan

The plan comparison on Trello’s pricing page lists boards, views, automation, AI and admin features. It lists no proposals, invoices or time tracking on any plan, so you would need a separate tool or Power-Up.

Prices are per user or per member a month unless marked as a team price, with the billing period stated in each cell or section, last checked October 23, 2026. “Not listed” means the vendor’s pricing page did not list the feature when we checked.

A dash on another tool's row means the feature is not listed on that tool's pricing page on the date shown for that row. It links to the page we read, so you can check it yourself.

The alternatives, in detail

Asana asana.com ↗

Best for: Teams that outgrew Trello’s boards and want structured projects, timelines and workflows across many people.

Pricing: Personal is free. Starter is $10.99 and Advanced $24.99 a user a month billed annually, or $13.49 and $30.49 on monthly billing; Enterprise is sales-led. AI requests beyond the included amount are $0.50 each prepaid or $0.60 on demand. Last checked October 23, 2026.

Where it wins

  • A free Personal plan, and free guests on paid plans for clients and contractors
  • Structured projects and workflows for larger teams
  • AI requests included on paid plans (5 per user a month, with an account cap)

Real limitations

  • Starter, at $13.49 a user on monthly billing, costs more than Trello Premium at $12.50
  • Its pricing page lists no invoicing or client portal
  • Extra AI requests are billed on top

Skip it if: You need to quote and bill clients from the same tool.

ClickUp clickup.com ↗

Best for: Teams that want boards, docs and tasks in one cheaper tool than Trello Premium, and will configure it.

Pricing: Free; Core is $9 a user a month billed yearly or $12 monthly; Business $17 billed yearly or $25 monthly; MAX $100 billed yearly or $120 monthly; Enterprise by quote. Last checked October 23, 2026.

Where it wins

  • A free plan, and a paid tier at $12 a user on monthly billing, below Trello Premium’s $12.50
  • Boards plus docs and many other views
  • Business adds more automations

Real limitations

  • Many settings to configure before the team is productive
  • Its pricing page lists no invoicing or client portal
  • Business is $25 a user on monthly billing

Skip it if: You want proposals, invoices and a client portal next to the tasks and tracked time.

Notion notion.com ↗

Best for: Teams that want boards inside a wiki and docs workspace, and like building their own setup.

Pricing: Free; Plus $12 and Business $24 a member a month on monthly billing, or $10 and $20 billed yearly (“Save up to 20% with yearly”); Enterprise by quote. AI agents are free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits. Last checked October 23, 2026.

Where it wins

  • Boards, docs and wikis in one workspace
  • A free plan
  • Flexible databases you can shape to your process

Real limitations

  • You build the client-work system yourself
  • Its pricing page lists no invoicing or client portal
  • AI usage beyond the trial is billed in credits

Skip it if: You want billing and a client portal ready to use rather than built.

Basecamp basecamp.com ↗

Best for: Teams that want simple projects with message boards, to-dos and card tables at one account price instead of per user.

Pricing: Plans by active projects and users: Free (1 project, 1 GB), Freelancer $29 a month (3 projects, 10 GB, up to 5 users), Pro $79 (8 projects, 25 GB, up to 10 users), Pro Plus $99 (12 projects, 100 GB, up to 15 users, adds time tracking) and Pro Unlimited at $199 a month billed annually or $329 billed monthly (unlimited projects and users, 1 TB). No per-user fees within each plan’s user cap. 30-day free trial. Last checked October 23, 2026.

Where it wins

  • No per-user fees: the price is set by active projects and a user cap
  • Card tables, message boards and to-dos in each project
  • A 30-day free trial

Real limitations

  • Pro caps you at 8 active projects and 10 users, and time tracking starts at Pro Plus ($99/mo)
  • Its pricing page lists no invoicing

Skip it if: You need to invoice clients from the same place you run projects.

Workspace369 workspace369.com ↗

Best for: Service businesses whose boards are client projects they also quote, track time on and invoice, and who want clients to follow along in a portal.

Pricing: Cadet $29/mo (1 seat), Voyager $74/mo (2 seats; adds the shared inbox, texts and calls), Specialist $149/mo (10 seats; adds IVR and call queues, payment plans and basic accounting), Commander $299/mo (20 seats; full accounting), Enterprise $699/mo (50 seats). Extra seats are $10/mo from Voyager; yearly billing saves 20%. A 5-person team pays $104/mo on Voyager.

Where it wins

  • Task boards and projects on the same client record as proposals, invoices and time tracking
  • A client portal on every plan, where clients follow their projects and task boards and pay invoices
  • Time tracking with time-to-invoice on every plan

Real limitations

  • More expensive than Trello for boards alone: five people are $104 a month on Voyager against $62.50 on Trello Premium (monthly billing)
  • No free plan: a 14-day free trial instead
  • No direct import from Trello: AI Import maps clients, products, invoices, proposals and expenses (from Specialist) from spreadsheets, and boards and cards are set up again

Skip it if: Your boards are internal to-dos with no clients to quote, bill or share with.

Stay on Trello if…

  • Your boards are internal to-dos and nobody outside the team needs to see them.
  • Premium’s views and admin controls are what you were missing, and $10 a user billed annually fits.
  • You already bill clients in a separate tool and are happy keeping the two apart.
  • Your team is 10 people or fewer and the Free plan still covers you.

How to switch from Trello

  1. 01

Decide what the boards are for

If a board is a client project, list what you do around it: quotes, time, invoices, client updates. Those are what to move together.

  2. 02

    Export what you need

Premium includes simple data export. Export the boards you want to keep, and your client and invoice lists from whatever billing tool you use.

  3. 03

Start a Workspace369 trial and import clients

14-day free trial. AI Import maps your client, product, invoice, proposal and expense (from Specialist) spreadsheets and shows the AI usage estimate before it saves anything. Boards and cards are set up again as projects and task boards.

  4. 04

Run one client end to end

Take one real client from proposal to project board, time tracking and invoice, with the client following in the portal. Keep Trello until that client has paid through the new setup.

There is no direct import from Trello: boards and cards are set up again as projects and task boards, and client and billing records come across from spreadsheets with AI Import. For the side-by-side version, start with the head-to-head:

Questions Trello users actually ask

How much is Trello Premium?
Trello Premium is $10 a user a month billed annually ($120 a user a year) or $12.50 a user on monthly billing. For five people that is $50 a month billed annually or $62.50 monthly. Last checked October 23, 2026.
What does Trello Premium add over Standard?
Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views, Workspace Table and Calendar views, unlimited Workspace command runs, admin and security features, Workspace-level templates, collections, observers and simple data export. Standard is $5 a user billed annually ($6 monthly).
Is Trello Premium worth it for client work?
For organizing client projects on boards, it can be: the views help you see deadlines across clients. It does not handle the money side: Trello’s pricing page lists no proposals, invoices, time tracking or client portal, so you still need other tools for those.
What is the best Trello alternative for client work?
Workspace369 if you quote, track time and invoice the same clients you run boards for, with a client portal on every plan ($29 a month for 1 seat, $74 for 2). ClickUp ($12 a user monthly on Core, checked October 23, 2026) or Asana (Starter $13.49 monthly) if you only need stronger task management. Basecamp (Pro $79 a month for 8 active projects and up to 10 users) if you want an account price with no per-user fees. Asana and Basecamp last checked October 23, 2026.
Can clients see my boards?
In Trello, Standard adds single-board guests, and multi-board guests are listed on Enterprise. In Workspace369, clients open a portal from a link and follow their projects and task boards, comment, and view and pay invoices, with permissions you set per client.
Can I move from Trello to Workspace369?
Boards and cards are set up again as projects and task boards; there is no direct Trello import. Client, product, invoice, proposal and expense (from Specialist) spreadsheets come across with AI Import, which shows the AI usage estimate before it saves anything.
