HoneyBook ACH payout time: why it takes 7–8 days (and your options)
HoneyBook's own community answer says ACH transfers take 7–8 business days, and card payments post in 2–3. Why ACH is slow, what each option costs, and how Stripe compares.

HoneyBook's own answer in its community forum says ACH transfers take 7–8 business days, citing its Help Center — and that card payments are the ones that post in 2–3. That is not a user rumor: it is the marked best answer in the thread "Why Do HoneyBook ACH Payments Take 7–8 Days to Process?". On fees, HoneyBook's pricing page lists card fees starting at 2.7% + 10¢ and 2.9% + 25¢ depending on plan, and ACH bank transfers at 1.5% (checked on honeybook.com/pricing, September 23, 2026).
This guide explains why ACH is slow everywhere, which part of the wait is processor-specific, what the faster options cost, and when moving your payments to Stripe makes sense.
Quick answer
- The wait has two parts. The ACH network settles bank transfers in batches over business days. On top of that, your payment processor can hold the money longer as a risk check. The network part is the same for everyone; the holding window is processor-specific.
- Inside HoneyBook, cards are the fast rail. Card payments post in 2–3 business days versus 7–8 for ACH, per the same official answer. HoneyBook's pricing page also lists instant deposit — faster access for a 1% fee, pending eligibility — so check whether your account offers it.
- If you are shopping instead: Workspace369 payments run on Stripe, and payout timing follows your Stripe account's schedule. Start a 14-day trial or compare pricing.
Why ACH payments are slow in the first place
ACH stands for Automated Clearing House, the network US banks use to move money. Transfers do not travel one by one: the sending bank collects them into batches, the batches move at set times, and the receiving bank posts the money. Every step runs on banking days, so weekends and holidays do not count.
There is a second delay most people never see. An ACH transfer can still bounce after it starts — for example, if the client's account lacks the funds — so many processors hold the money for extra days rather than cover a returned transfer themselves. That holding window is a business decision, not a network rule.
So when one platform pays out in two days and another takes eight, the difference is rarely "the ACH network." It is each processor's holding policy stacked on the same settlement rails.
What HoneyBook says about its own timing
The community thread starts with a user asking why ACH payments take 7–8 days to post when other tools post ACH in 24–48 hours. HoneyBook's marked best answer:
"ACH transfers take 7-8 business days per our Help Center. Payments made via credit/debit card are the ones that take 2-3!"
— HoneyBook's answer in the HoneyBook Community
Seven to eight business days on a real calendar: if a client pays on a Wednesday, the money can land the Friday of the following week. That is the gap behind the complaint every small business owner recognizes — "payroll was Friday."
HoneyBook itself offers two ways to shorten the wait:
- Take card payments instead. Cards post in 2–3 business days per the same answer, at the higher card fee.
- Instant deposit. HoneyBook's pricing page lists "Instant deposit — access funds faster for a 1% fee," with a "pending eligibility" note (checked September 23, 2026). Whether your account offers it is account-specific, so check your payment settings or ask HoneyBook support in writing.
HoneyBook vs Stripe fees, with dates
| HoneyBook (checked Sept 23, 2026) | Stripe published standard rates (checked Sept 23, 2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Online card payments | From 2.7% + 10¢ or 2.9% + 25¢, by plan | 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards |
| ACH / bank transfer | 1.5% | 0.8% ACH Direct Debit, capped at $5 |
| Faster payout option | Instant deposit, 1% fee, pending eligibility | Instant Payouts, 1.5% of the payout, 50¢ minimum |
| Stated payout speed | ACH 7–8 business days; cards 2–3 (community answer citing its Help Center) | Published in Stripe's docs; your account's timing shows in the Stripe dashboard |
The ACH line is where the fee math gets interesting. On a $3,000 invoice, HoneyBook's 1.5% bank transfer fee is $45. Stripe's published ACH Direct Debit rate is 0.8% with a $5 cap, so the same transfer costs $5. For wider fee data, see our payment processing cost benchmarks.
To be fair to HoneyBook, its instant deposit fee of 1% is lower than Stripe's published Instant Payouts fee of 1.5%. If your account is eligible, that is a genuine point in HoneyBook's favor.
The Stripe path, honestly
Workspace369 payments run on Stripe. What that means for payout speed — and what it does not:
- Payout timing follows your Stripe account's schedule. Stripe publishes its payout schedule in its docs, and your account's exact timing shows in the Stripe dashboard. We deliberately quote no number of days: the schedule depends on your account, and the dashboard is the authoritative answer.
- The fees you pay are between you and Stripe. Stripe's published standard rates are in the table above; your dashboard shows what applies to your account.
What Workspace369 adds around the payment is the rest of the client workflow: proposals, invoices, payment links, automated reminders, payment plans, and a client portal on the same client record. Invoices and proposals are included on every plan from Cadet at $29/month — no separate billing tool to sync. The payments feature page shows the full list.
What to check in your account today
- Which rail your clients actually use. If most pay by card, money posts in 2–3 business days per HoneyBook's answer, and the ACH window may not be your real problem.
- Whether instant deposit shows up for you. It is listed at a 1% fee, pending eligibility; your payment settings or a written answer from HoneyBook support will confirm.
- Your due dates against the window. If you need money by a fixed date — payroll, rent, materials — set invoice due dates 8+ business days earlier, or price the card fee into the job.
Where Workspace369 fits — and where it doesn't
A good fit when:
- You want proposals, invoices, payments, payment plans, reminders, and the client portal in one workspace, with payments running on Stripe.
- You were already rethinking HoneyBook after its 2025–2026 price changes. The full timeline is in our Workspace369 vs HoneyBook comparison, and the wider field is in HoneyBook alternatives.
Not the best fit when:
- You only want a faster payout inside HoneyBook. Cards or instant deposit solve that without a migration.
- You want your HoneyBook history imported automatically. There is no published migration tool from HoneyBook to Workspace369. The realistic path is to export your records, re-enter what is still active, and keep the archive as a file.
- You want a guaranteed payout number before signing up. Your Stripe account sets that schedule, so anyone who promises a number without seeing your account is guessing.
The bottom line
HoneyBook says it itself: ACH takes 7–8 business days, cards take 2–3. Part of that is how the ACH network works everywhere, and part is the processor's holding window. Your options inside HoneyBook are card payments or instant deposit at 1%, pending eligibility. Your option outside it is a workspace where payments run on Stripe and a $3,000 bank transfer costs $5, not $45.
If faster, cheaper bank transfers plus invoices, proposals, and a client portal in one place sound right, start a Workspace369 trial on the Cadet plan — $29/month, invoices and proposals included — or compare plans on the pricing page.
