How to export everything from Moxie (2026)
How to export from Moxie (formerly Hectic): a checklist of the workspace Excel workbook, accounting workbook, statements and agreement PDFs, plus the gaps.
Workspace369 publishes this guide and sells an alternative client-work platform. Every Moxie step below comes from an article on help.withmoxie.com. On October 17, 2026 we opened each article cited here directly, and each one is linked where it is used. Moxie describes a few things only loosely (file formats, what the workspace workbook contains), and we say so where that happens. Moxie can change its help center, so check each article in your account before you rely on it.
If you are leaving Moxie (the product formerly called Hectic, at withmoxie.com), export first and cancel last. This guide is a checklist of what Moxie's own help center says you can take with you, how to do each export, and what has no documented export. Where there is a gap, I say so and give a generic workaround, labelled as one.
Every step links to the Moxie page it comes from. I opened each of them on October 17, 2026. Moxie recently moved to a new version (V4), and its help center says some labels and routes changed, so compare each step with what you see on screen.
Key takeaways
- Moxie's owner can download a complete Excel workbook of the workspace from Settings, then Data import / export, then the Export tab. The article does not list which record types the workbook holds, so open it and check every sheet.
- Moxie documents three other downloads: the Export accounting workbook button (P&L, invoices, payments, expenses, taxes, clients and client deposit liabilities), a per-client Account statement as an Excel workbook, and Download PDF on an agreement preview, which includes a signature certificate.
- We found no Moxie article for exporting a client list on its own, expenses on their own, projects and tasks, templates, or a signed copy of a finished agreement. The time tracking page has an Export button, but the article does not name the file format.
- If your Moxie subscription is inactive or expired, the workspace owner can still download the full workspace export. Moxie's billing article does not publish a data retention period.
- There is no one-click Moxie importer in Workspace369. Clients, products, expenses, invoices and proposals come in as CSV or XLSX through AI Import, which maps the columns and shows the AI usage estimate before it writes anything.

Quick answer
Moxie lets the workspace owner download a complete Excel workbook of the workspace, export an accounting workbook from Money In & Out, download a per-client Account statement as Excel, and save agreements as PDF from the preview. I found no documented export for the client list on its own, expenses on their own, projects and tasks, templates, or a signed copy of a finished agreement.
There is also no one-click Moxie to Workspace369 importer. You export from Moxie, then bring the spreadsheets in with AI Import. More on that below. If you want the short version of the whole move, start with switching from Moxie.
Before you start
- Be the workspace owner. Moxie says only the owner can run the workspace export.
- Treat the file as sensitive. Moxie notes the export can contain sensitive client and business information, so store it as carefully as your live workspace.
- Do not cancel yet. Keep the account active until the last step.

1. Export your clients and contacts
Start with the full workspace export, per Moxie's import and export article:
- In Moxie, go to Settings & administration and open Data import / export.
- Select the Export tab.
- Download the export. Moxie generates a complete Excel workbook of your workspace.
The article calls it a complete workspace copy, but it does not list which record types or fields the workbook holds, and it does not describe a standalone client or contact export. The client list article covers filters and table views, not exporting. So open the workbook, find the client and contact sheets, and check the columns before you move on. The accounting workbook also lists clients.
2. Export your invoices and payments
Two routes, both Excel-based:
- Export accounting workbook. Per the Money In & Out article, open Money In & Out, choose the complete calendar months you want, then select Export accounting workbook. Moxie says it downloads the P&L, invoices, payments, expenses, taxes, clients and client deposit liabilities. The article does not state the file format.
- Account statement. Per the client workspace article, open a client, select the Account statement shortcut, pick a period (all time, this or last month, quarter, year, or a custom range) and download the Excel workbook. It holds invoice and payment activity, running and open balances, and the deposit balance.
The invoices article does not describe downloading invoices as PDF or CSV. A generic workaround: decide which invoices you need as PDFs. Open and unpaid ones, plus the last tax year, are usually enough, so open those and save them from your browser. Ask your accountant before you archive the rest.
3. Save your proposals and contracts
Moxie calls these agreements. Per the agreement article:
- Open the agreement in the builder.
- Select Preview in the toolbar.
- Select Download PDF. Moxie says this creates a print-ready copy from the client's view, including a signature certificate.
The article does not describe downloading a signed copy from a fully executed agreement, and the templates article lists no download option. A generic workaround: open each signed agreement you still need, save or print it to PDF, then open the saved file and confirm that signatures and dates are visible. If a document is missing its signature record, ask Moxie support before you cancel.

4. Export your time entries
Per Moxie's time entries article, the time tracking page has an Export button that downloads the current scoped result set. Apply your date range and filters first, and widen them to cover every year you want to keep. The article does not name the file format, so open the download and check the columns. Time worked may also appear in the full workspace workbook from step 1.
5. Export your expenses
I found no standalone expense export. The expenses article covers previewing receipts inside Moxie and nothing about downloading them. Two routes remain: the accounting workbook from step 2, which Moxie says includes expenses, and the full workspace workbook from step 1. A generic workaround for receipts: open each expense you need for tax and save the attached receipt files one at a time.

6. Export your projects and tasks
The projects article describes list, table and saved views, and no export. Your best documented route is the full workspace workbook from step 1. I could not confirm which project and task fields it holds, so check that statuses, dates and the client link are there. Treat comments and attachments as unconfirmed.
7. Files
Moxie's V3 to V4 article says files now live under Clients, Files, and that file details include previews and downloads. I found no bulk file export. A generic workaround: open each active client, download the files you need one at a time, and keep them in a folder named for the client. Do active clients first and archived ones only if you need them.
8. Templates
Moxie has six template types (email, agreements, agreement packages, products and services, projects and invoices), per its templates article. None of the articles describe exporting them, so I am treating this as a gap. A generic workaround: copy the text of the agreement and email templates you still use into a document, and note your product and service names and prices in a spreadsheet. Skip anything you have not sent in a year. You will rebuild these in the new tool.
9. Accounting and tax reports
The tax export is the accounting workbook. Per Moxie's tax article, go to Money, then Reports, choose your filing period (Moxie expands it to complete calendar months) and click Export accounting workbook. It includes a Taxes collected sheet and a Tax detail sheet.
Moxie says the tax export is cash-basis: unpaid invoices contribute no collected tax, and it follows payment dates, not invoice dates. If your filing needs accrual or invoice-date reporting, or a period that is not whole calendar months, the workbook alone may not be enough, so ask your accountant. A generic workaround: run the export for every year you want to keep and give the files to your accountant.
Bring it into Workspace369
There is no Moxie importer, and Workspace369 does not claim one. Here is what the process looks like instead.
- Take the client and contact data from step 1, the expenses from steps 2 and 5, and a spreadsheet of any products, invoices or proposals you want to carry over. Save sheets as CSV or XLSX, clean the columns a little, and remove clients you no longer need.
- Run AI Import for each record type. You upload a CSV or XLSX of clients, products, expenses, invoices or proposals. AI Import maps your columns to the right fields and you review the mapping. It shows the AI usage estimate before it writes anything. AI Import is on every Workspace369 plan and brings in only what your plan includes, so expenses need Specialist.
- Attach files and notes to the client record or project from the downloads in steps 3 and 7.
- Rebuild the few templates you saved in step 8.
The full checklist, including what moves and what you re-create, is on the switch from Moxie page. For a feature-by-feature view, see Workspace369 vs Moxie, or browse the Moxie alternatives. Leaving another tool? The Bonsai export checklist and the HoneyBook export checklist work the same way.
Old Moxie links and client portal pages keep pointing at Moxie, so tell active clients where to go next.
What happens when you cancel
Moxie's billing article says that if a subscription is inactive or expired, the workspace owner can still download a full workspace export from Data import / export, and that imports are unavailable until the subscription is active again. It also says cancelling a web subscription can affect paid add-ons, so read the confirmation carefully. It does not say how long your data is kept, so ask Moxie support in writing before you cancel. Do not use that export access as a reason to wait: download it now.
Final check before you cancel
- The workspace workbook and the accounting workbook open correctly, and you have compared their sheets with your account.
- Time tracking and tax exports are saved for every year you need.
- Agreements you need are saved as PDF, with signatures visible, and open invoices are paid or moved.
- Files and template text are saved in a folder.
- A second copy of the folder exists somewhere other than your laptop.
Then cancel Moxie when the last open invoice there is paid. If you want to compare before you commit, the 14-day Workspace369 trial is card-first, so you add a card to start it. Here is the Moxie switch checklist.
