What does a web-design project cost?
Clutch reports a mean project cost of USD 38,105.39 while describing most reviewed projects as below USD 10,000. The two statements answer different questions; neither is a quote for a specified scope.
| Source measure | USD |
|---|---|
| Mean reviewed project cost | $38,105.39 |
| Exclusive upper threshold for the source’s “most projects” statement | $10,000.00 |
The source does not publish a project-level sample count, distribution or observation window here. A directory listing count is not the number of projects used to calculate the mean.

How do selected hourly rate bands compare?
Keep each country and both endpoints attached to the band. These are provider-market reference ranges, not measured pay rates for individual designers.

| Provider market | USD/hour: lower endpoint | USD/hour: upper endpoint |
|---|---|---|
| United States | $100.00 | $149.00 |
| United Kingdom | $50.00 | $99.00 |
| Poland | $25.00 | $49.00 |
Selected rows only. Comparing different scopes or provider mixes cannot isolate a country effect. Currency is USD throughout.

What would an assumed block of design hours cost?
Workspace369 multiplies the published US band endpoints by three hypothetical effort budgets. The hours are assumptions, not observed project durations, and these outputs are not fixed-price website benchmarks.
Scroll horizontally to compare all columns →
| Assumed billable hours | Modeled lower amount, USD | Modeled upper amount, USD |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | $2,000.00Illustrative calculation | $2,980.00Illustrative calculation |
| 40 | $4,000.00Illustrative calculation | $5,960.00Illustrative calculation |
| 80 | $8,000.00Illustrative calculation | $11,920.00Illustrative calculation |
Hosting, content, development, revisions, tax and maintenance are excluded unless explicitly included in the assumed billable work. Replace both hours and rate with the actual proposal.
What should a comparable website quote specify?
Define pages and templates, content ownership, design rounds, implementation, integrations, accessibility checks, launch responsibility and maintenance. A price without those boundaries is difficult to compare.
Use the same brief for every candidate. Retain exclusions, approval dates, change-request terms and the person who accepts delivery. Record whether a fee covers design alone or also the working site.
How this report was built
Methodology and limitations
- Clutch’s own pricing guide is the primary producer source. We retain selected figures and exact section locators, with no attempt to reproduce the proprietary review dataset.
- Workspace369’s effort table is a reproducible scenario, not a new survey. It uses assumed hours and cited band endpoints; the downloadable ledger records formulas and input IDs.
What these numbers cannot tell you
- Listing and review selection limit representativeness. The publication date does not establish the date of each project.
- No probability distribution is available; the displayed ranges are not uncertainty intervals. A mean and a below-threshold statement cannot recover the median.
- No scope-normalized comparison or quality ranking is claimed.
Freshness and corrections
Maintained by the Workspace369 editorial team. Workspace369 editorial team reviews quarterly and when a producer releases a new edition. Next review January 2027. The edition date changes only when the evidence or content is substantively reviewed; it does not change the underlying observation period.
First edition: . Data extraction, source attribution and arithmetic checked for this edition. No independent peer review is claimed.
